Vineyards
Boundary Road
In early Spring 2025, I was approached and the opportunity to farm a small 1 acre block of MV6 Pinot Noir in Coldstream arose. Concerned it may be too much of an undertaking for solely myself, my friend Michael and I will be dual custodians of the vineyard.
Planted in 2017, on Teleki 5C rootstock, with the soils largely a grey loam clay base, it’s been lovingly looked after and tended to with cover crops, compost fertilisers and thoughtful cane pruning.
We will continue to look after the vineyard utilising organic and regenerative farming practises, with a focus on building soil and vine health, as well as overall vineyard biodiversity.
Vintage 2026 will see our first harvest, with a release expected later that year/early the next.
Yarra Station
I’ve sourced all my fruit, and will continue to, from a vineyard in Yarra Glen called Yarra Station, at the foot of the Christmas Hills, just as you come into the Yarra Valley. I’ve been working with the fruit from this place since 2021, and am rather fond of the vines that take residence here.
It’s farmed thoughtfully, with the use of cover crops, animal manures as fertilisers and gentle under vine cultivation, and is made up largely of clay loam duplex soils.
It’s quite a steep South facing slope, allowing for even ripening and cool airflow, and was first planted back in the mid 90’s.
